Traveling to New Zealand this July? The 10-day Mud Festival is to be held in Rotorua New Zealand, from the 4th to 13th of July 2008. The Festival has two themes. One is the Matariki MUD Mayhem, which is Rotorua celebrating Rotorua with the focus on the Local Community and the other is the MAD MUD (Mud Action Days), when the MUD Madness begins!
Events on both themes ranges from mud rugby, mud pools, mud programs, mud rat race and other muddy-mud-mud events! The Festival will be launched on Friday the 4th of July and finish on Sunday the 13th of July 2008. The geothermal mud of Rotorua are renowned for their curative and invigorating properties and this is particularly so at ‘Hell’s Gate’ - Rotorua’s active geothermal reserve. Darwin Lions Beer Can Regatta
Darwin invites you to the 34th Annual Darwin Lions Beer Can Regatta. On 13th July 2008, Mindil Beach, Darwin NT Australia . This is a great family day where there are beach events for all ages and the water events!
The Darwin Beer Can Regatta started unusually because of the devastation caused to Darwin by “Cyclone Tracy” in 1974. Because of the damage caused by the cyclone, materials and manpower from interstate were brought to Darwin to assist in the rebuilding of the city. Many of the work force personnel that were rebuilding the site were from the southern states, and were not used to the humidity, therefore the consumption of canned beer increased dramatically. As a result, there are empty beer cans littering the around Darwin and eventually became a litter problem. Thanks to Lutz Frankenfeld, he came up with the suggestion that Darwin should hold a boat race fabricated out of beer cans. In need of some good blues? Don’t fret. The Monterey Bay Blues Festival is happenin’ on June 27-29, 2008. It started off in 1986 and eventually became one of the leading blues festivals in America. Twenty one years ago, the local community dreamed of promoting the art form of Blues. The 37th annual Texas Folklife Festival for this year - “We All Belong!”.
